CF067 is a human recombinant platelet derived growth Factor- BB. PDGFs act as potent mitogens for a variety of cell types including fibroblasts, connective tissue and smooth muscle cells Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) family of heparin binding growth factors consists of 5 members - PDGF-AA, PDGF-BB, PDGF-AB, PDGF-CC and PDGF-DD. These are disulfide-linked dimers consisting of two 12.0 - 13.5kDa polypeptide chains, designated PDGF-A, PDGF-B, PDGF-C and PDGF-D chains. PDGFR-α and PDGFR-β are the two signaling receptors for PDGFs. PDGFR-α is a high affinity receptors for all forms of PDGF whereas PDGFR-β interacts only with PDGF-BB, PDGF-AB and PDGF-DD. PDGF-BB is a homodimer of made up of 2 chains of polypeptide PDGF-B. Binding of PDGF-BB to its receptor on cells elicits a variety of cellular responses such as hyperplasia, fibroblast migration and embryonic development. In addition to the striking potency of PDGF as a mitogen they are strongly chemotactic for human monocytes and neutrophils. At higher concentration, PDGFs act as chemoattractant for fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells.
