This liquid medium is a qualitative test recommended for detection of microorganisms in blood. It contains Soyabean Casein Digest Medium which is highly enriched medium which supports the growth of fastidious organisms. It contains 70 ml for adult use. Sodium polyanetholesulfonate (SPS), an anticoagulant which inhibits the antimicrobial systems of blood, is used widely in blood culture medium and cause an increase in recovery of these organisms.
