0.5M Borate Buffer is a common buffer extensively used in many biological applications including molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and immunology as it can maintain pH and osmolarity. 0.5 M Borate Buffer Solution is supplied as a ready to use form for convenience.   0.5 M Borate Buffer Solution is widely used in molecular biology and biochemistry as dilution, washing, coating and blocking buffer as it is isotonic and non‐toxic to living cells. It can be used to dilute antibodies during western blotting and immunohistochemical staining and has applications in coating procedures or for reagent preparation.  Additives such as BSA and casein can be added in borate buffer for its functionality as a washing buffer or blocking buffer. It is also used in protein modification and bioconjugation procedures at alkaline pH.
