0.5M Tris-Cl, pH 6.8

0.5M Tris Buffer, pH 6.8 is an extensively used buffer in Molecular Biology. It is also used as the major component of several buffer solutions, e.g. Tris?EDTA buffer, Tris?acetate EDTA buffer, Tris? borate EDTA buffer, Tris?buffered saline etc.   Tris is the common name of tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane. It is a primary amine and is effective as a buffer in the pH range between 7.0 and 9.2. Tris does not precipitate calcium salts and maintains solubility of manganese salts. It has a low UV absorbance but strong temperature sensitivity. This buffer is supplied as 0.5M.
