Burkholderia Cepacia Agar Base is used for isolation of Burkholderia cepacia from the respiratory secretions of patients with cystic fibrosis and other non-clinical specimens. The medium is selective for B. cepacia due to bile salts, crystal violet and antibiotics such as Polymyxin B and Gentamicin. Burkholderia cepacia can be identified as sage green coloured colonies with bright pink coloured medium.
