BYE HiVegâ„¢ Agar is recommended for cultivation and routine studies of distribution of Mycoplasmas or Pleuropneumonia like organisms (PPLOs) and L-forms of bacteria. Medium was developed by Barlie, Yaguchi and Eveland. Mycoplasma species grows luxuriantlly on the media. This medium is also used for detecting PPLO contamination of tissue culture and cell-lines and for membrane filter work. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
