This medium is recommended for selective isolation and differentiation of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium from clinical samples. Arabinose is fermentable sugar available with Phenol red as an indicator additionally chromogenic substrate is available for detection of β-glucosidase activity. Vancomycin, Fluconazole added to the medium allows the selective isolation of Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci.
