This slant is recommended for isolation of dermatophytes & other pathogenic fungi. Medium contains Soya peptone and dextrose as energy sources. Cycloheximide inhibits saprophytic fungi, certain yeasts and moulds while chloramphenicol has an inhibitory action on the accompanying bacteria. Less selective medium must be run in parallel.
