Potato Dextrose Agar Plate w/ β Lactamase (γ-irradiated) (Triple Pack)

This medium is recommended as a general purpose medium for isolation of yeasts and moulds and for inactivation of β-lactam antibiotics. Potato infusion and dextrose promote luxuriant fungal growth. β lactamase enzyme breaks the β-lactam ring of antibiotic, deactivating the molecule's antibacterial properties thus enabling recovery of organisms from the environment of cleanrooms where production of antibiotics is carried out.
