Proteose Peptone A is manufactured by enzymatic hydrolysis of protein, under controlled conditions while maintaining degree of hydrolysis so as to retain its nutritive value. It is rich in proteoses, peptide and free amino acids. It is recommended for cultivation of fastidious pathogens and particularly for bulk production of antibiotics, enzymes, veterinary preparation and bacterial toxins, especially diphtheria toxin.
