Magnetic Stirring Bar

Magnetic stirring bars give effective stirring of samples via magnetic manipulation.  Many models feature an octagonal shape with a central integrated pivot ring for optimal turbulence while stirring because of a greater area. Commonly coated in Teflon to supply chemical inertness; occasionally glass is the coating to be used with most liquid metals and alkali metal solutions in ammonia. Both of those coatings are inert and can not contaminate or react with the reaction solution.
