Tetrathionate HiVegâ„¢ Broth Base, Hajna (TT HiVegâ„¢ Broth Base) is recommended by APHA for the selective enrichment of Salmonellae from foodstuffs. Peptone special and yeast extract are the sources of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals. The selectivity depends on the ability of thiosulphate and tetrathionate to suppress commensal coliform organisms. Tetrathionate HiVegâ„¢ Broth Base, Hajna (TT HiVegâ„¢ Broth Base) is prepared by using vegetable peptones in place of animal based peptones which make the media free of BSE/TSE risks.
