This medium is recommended for selective isolation of Gonococci from pathological specimens. Special peptone provides nutrients to the organisms while starch neutralizes the toxic fatty acids if present in the agar. Vancomycin, Colistin methane sulphonate, Trimethoprim and Nystatin makes the medium selective.
