Veillonella Agar Base with added antibiotic is used for selective isolation of Veillonella species. Few streptococci and diphtheroides can also grow on this medium. Veillonella species are isolated from the gastrointestinal tract and oral cavity specimens. Addition of vancomycin has been proved superior to streptomycin as a selective agent for isolating Veillonella.
